A humidifier helps to keep your home comfortable in the winter, but when outside temperatures drop to zero or below to keep frost and water off of your windows and out of your attic you will need to reduce the humidity level. Ideally when the outside temperature reaches 0 degrees the humidity in your home should be 30% or less. At -10 degrees the humidity needs to be 25% or less. Beyond -10 degrees set your humidifier on 15% or simply shut it off. Once outside temperatures rise above 10 degrees you may restore the humidity to a more comfortable 38% and up to 45% once the outside temperatures rise above 40 degrees.
